Its pretty funny how life can go from being normal to all over the place lol. Situations we can't avoid & some we make at random. I thought over & over on whether I should speak on this publicly, but here I am! Lol Recently I made the decision to quit my job at H&M. Between the 24 months of me working there I've worked over 6 H&M stores. With that being said I grew a love for the company & wanted to grow with the company as a Visual Merchandiser.
However when there's half of management that secretly has it out for you, you're only going to develop so much at a company.
Unfortunately it's always other people who notices your hard work. One morning, right after the store opened I actually was working in the men's department & a customer stopped me. Something about this customer was extremely different from any other customer (I thought to myself). He almost appeared to be a secret shopper. This guy asked me question about what's the difference between relaxed fit button ups vs fitted button ups, what's the difference in slim & straight legged pants etc! I almost felt like I was being tested, so I answered every question with enthusiasm to the best of my knowledge! Then 10 minutes after our time together he asks me if I knew someone named "Jerry" for the sake of privacy I won't disclose his real name. I responded & said yes I know Jerry! I love Jerry, he was my favorite co worker! He then said well I am Jerry's new manager over at Hugo Boss. Suddenly my intuition spoke to me & once he said that I knew something bigger was happening.
3 Hours later Jerry walks in my store looking for me. Coincidently I had just come from lunch & spotted Jerry almost leaving the store. He then pulls me to the side & tells me his store manager loves my work ethic, & my high energy. He also wants you to work for him if you're willing to accept the offer. Quickly we exchanged contact info & I have already completed my first interview at Hugo Boss & is waiting for my second interview!
Its crazy how you can work your ass off for a company for 2 years & no one seems to see your dedication. Yet you work with a customer for 10 minutes & they see everything in you! I won't lie I had a loyalty to H&M even as a part timer, but after not being offered a full time position after 2 years I realized H&M doesn't deserve my work ethic.
2 things I've learned from my H&M experience is:
- I've become more vocal about things aren't fair/ right.
-I've learned to give & receive feedback.
- I've learned that if you aren't growing at a company, it's probably not the fit for me. I look for growth I hate to be stagnant a job.
